Monday New Art — I’m The Night and Why So Serious? (My Original Art)

Kazowie, Zap, Bam, and Pow Roboteers! Today’s brand new Monday New Art brings you all two fun Joe illustrations that parody a certain cape crusader and his awesomely crazy arch nemesis. The drawings are entitled, I’m The Night and Why So Serious.

Posted here for your enjoyment, this wonderfully wacky new art Monday, is both the color AND pre-color versions of this dynamic duo of drawings. These were a real blast to draw. I’ve been using Fifty Three’s Paper app on my iPad since March 2012 but just started using the water colors in the last few months, and I’m LOVING it!

I have a stylus but stopped using it about eight months (or more!) ago. So everything you’ve seen since then has all been done with my right index finger. It was unnatural and odd using my finger in the beginning, but now it actually feels more natural than a pen or stylus. There’s just something primal and free about it.

(My Original Art) Ah how I hate corporate lackey jargon and catchphrases. “Synergize and leverage interdisciplinary strengths”, “It will speak to that in the language”, “Moving forward we will address that in the strategy”, as well as a host of other meaningless corporate dribble. Speaking of dribble, gang, here’s some awesome ass-dribble in the form of today’s all-new-all-original-all-mega-buttastic JGR Monday New Art!! It’s one of my most hated corporate catch phrases, “Think outside the box”. This ass-terpiece of big business jargon-jackassery is entitled Assbeard: Think Outside Your Ass! It was lovingly hand crafted by me, your good old bestest internets buddy Joe! A special thanks to Noah who helped me brainstorm the catchphrase “Think Outside Your Ass!” As always gang, do enjoy! Monday New Art - Joe’s Sketches - Various Cartoon Mugs from Joe’s Sketchbook 3 (My Original Art) - Joe’s Sketchbook!

For today’s Monday New Art I’m dipping into one of my many sketchbooks. Here are various cartoon face studies I did sometime in July 2012. These have never been published or seen before; that’s right Roboteers, this post is my first public display of these fun faces. These are from my Joe’s Sketchbook 3 and I created them on my iPad in 53’s Paper app.

To say I’m thrilled with this illustration would be a mega-understatement. I really love it! I feel it still looks like my work, but that I’ve definitely gotten out of my comfort zone drawing-wise and I feel like I took some new risks. I feel it all paid off beautifully! I love personal growth as an artist.
