You don’t know what ASCII art is? Here’s a brief description of ASCII art from the wiki:

ASCII art can be created with any text editor, and is often used with free-form languages. Most examples of ASCII art require a fixed-width font (non-proportional fonts, as on a traditional typewriter) such as Courier for presentation.

Monday New Art — Giant ASCII Robots - (My Original ASCII Art)

Wowzers and whizbangs gang!! Today’s Monday New Art brings you FOUR wicked-cool Joe’s Giant ASCII Robots! These four drawings are my foray into ASCII art. I “drew” these in January 2007 using nothing more than standard keyboard characters (no fancy-schmancy special characters) in a simple text editor.

I hand typed these robots; NO special ASCII software was used to make them. I simply opened up Apple’s TextEdit app text editor and started typing. I had no initial design in mind, I just typed and erased and re-typed until I got something I liked.

After drawing all four robots, I submitted the X1 Battle-Bot to a Wired.com ASCII art contest and I came in 7th in the top 12 winners.

My Giant ASCII Robots have names, they are:

X1 Battle-Bot
F6 Tank-A-Tron Assault-Bot
X2 Infantry-Bot
D.F.A. Stealth Flying Infiltrator (D.F.A. = Death From Above)
